World Touch Language Forum

The World Touch Language forum (WTLF) was established in 2017 and legally housed at CERLAS Institute as an independent entity. The purpose of the WTLF is to ascertain that as Touch Language evolves in time, as any other languages such process, it will adhere to the principle of avoiding potential confusion by its users. Namely, as is widely known and recognized Sign Language could serve as an example of the Forum would strive to avoid. Namely, Sign Language has different "accents", since various words are signed differently in different location, even within the United States. Signtel company (www.signtelinc.com) has provided a remedy for it in their Signtel Interpreter product by allowing a user to switch to finger spelling when a question arises. Touch Language takes a different approach.

In order to avoid the same effect for Touch Language, where users are anticipated to be deprived not only from the hearing sense, but also be deprived of the sense of sight, appropriate measures have been instituted. As such, the WTLF will be the only official body to sanction any additions or changes  to Touch Language, throughout its anticipated evolution. Such sanctioned changes or additions would be announced by the WTLF, as they are incorporated into the language.

Therefore, the legal rights to the intellectual property of Touch Language protected by a U.S patent, have been exclusively assigned to the WTLF, to serve as an enforcement tool.

Individuals or institutions can nominate individuals to serve on the WTLF by submitting the form provided below.
